Virtual/Local Internship Program Summer 2022

  • These internships are arranged by CAS through a network of CU friends and alumni.
  • The program runs through Education Abroad, which keeps costs down.听Scholarships are available as well.
  • Students will enroll in an internship course (ASIA 4930) and earn three credits.
  • Language is not required for all positions.

These virtual/local internship options are currently under development and additional positions will be added as they become available. Information that is common to all positions is offered first; see below for position specifics.

Course Credit

Interns will receive up to 3 credits through ASIA 4930. Questions about the credit component can be directed to Steve Rose.

鈥�Costs

  • Students can apply for Buffs Abroad Scholarships, and may be able to use financial aid.听
  • Scholarship support available through the Center for Asian Studies, limited to students who have applied for Buffs Abroad Scholarships.听
  • Please visit the Education Abroad Website for program costs and finances at听. (Choose US in the country field, then Boulder in the city field.)

Application Procedures

  • Applications are available on the Education Abroad website at听.听
  • To open an application, attend the virtual information session on Monday, April 4 at 10:00 a.m. or contact Steve Rose.
  • In addition to the application form, students will need to provide a cover letter, resume, transcript, and statement of purpose.听
  • Students may be interviewed by the supervisor prior to selection.
  • Application deadline is Friday, April 15, 2022.

Asian Chamber of Commerce

The Asian Chamber of Commerce (ACC) is a membership organization based in Denver, Colorado.听听Its mission is to provide economic development and business opportunities for its members., which include large corporations, businesses of all sizes, non-profit organizations, government, and educational institutions.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The intern will be helping the ACC build a database of Asian American Pacific Islander businesses in the Metro Denver Area.听听This will be accomplished by

  • Working with other Asian organizations to share information
  • Referencing areas in the cities with larger Asian population
  • Visiting areas if allowable, such as strip malls that are predominantly AAPI owned businesses
  • Using phones or emails to start building relationships with the businesses
  • 鈥婭n the event the intern travels to local business areas, milage will be paid听

Work Hours:听Hours will be determined by the Executive Director and staff.听听There will be a few meetings to start the program and check in throughout. If necessary, meetings can be conducted virtually.

Eligibility Requirements听

  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
  • Must have a pleasing personality on the phone and in person as needed
  • Understanding of the AAPI culture when meeting someone new
  • Working knowledge of Excel to keep records

Colorado House International (CoHo)

At CoHo we are knowledge brokers. We connect universities from Japan听to networks of US-based medical universities, hospitals, and healthcare experts through short-term programming which allows for collaboration and learning in care systems, practices, and treatments. We serve our clients by building and maintaining lifelong partnerships. We particularly focus on being a key anchor in Colorado to bridge US-Japan university relations. Given the state of international travel, we have pivoted to online learning exchange formats leveraging VR technologies.

Job Description and Responsibilities: Marketing Intern

  • Marketing research and analysis for international education trend on education abroad, international higher education partnership, international students recruiting
  • Developing and managing CoHo鈥檚 social media accounts (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Supporting other marketing projects/materials: newsletter, new programs materials development, etc.
  • Website development/updates/maintenance听

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese a bonus.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PPT, PDF, etc. (Photoshop or other design software preferred.)
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous situations
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment
  • Ready to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
  • A passion for service
  • Must have an up-to-date computer that can run the latest communication apps (Zoom, Virbela, ENGAGE, etc.)

US Heartland China Association

US Heartland China Association (USHCA, ) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit focused on promoting exchanges in culture, education, and business between the American Heartland region and China. Recognized nationally for its innovative programs to promote better understanding and global collaboration, USHCA is supported by the prestigious Ford Foundation and Henry Luce Foundation to focus on broader access to China related resources in the American Heartland region.

Job Description and Responsibilities

We are currently seeking interns to join our summer cohort to further the work around one of our most unique projects: . This project explores the complex and multi-faceted relationship that 21 US states, including Colorado, has with China. Interns will help with data gathering, research, community outreach, and communications.

Work Dates: Monday, May 30 to Friday, July 22, 2022

Work Hours: Average 15 hours/week with some flexibility. Intern will be working remotely and independently in a virtual team that meets about twice a week. Since USHCA鈥檚 Executive Director is based in Fort Collins, in-person check-in meeting with Executive Director can be scheduled if intern is in Colorado.

  • Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by start of internship.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
  • Prior experiences in research, media & communications, or community outreach
  • Interest in US-China relations would be a plus.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Through CU Boulder鈥檚 Asia Internship Program, Tadano is looking for an intern to work virtually with members of our global team on projects including communications, marketing, compliance, and more.
  • English-language reports summarizing the intern鈥檚 activities and findings will be expected from time to time.
  • The internship program will be coordinated by two CU Boulder alumni currently working for Tadano Ltd. in Japan.
  • Note: intern may be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement covering proprietary information that may be disclosed during the internship.

Work Hours:听120 hours total. Work hours will be flexible but monitored via e-mail communications. Regular online meetings will be held (via Google Meet, etc.), but the timing may vary depending on the location and time zones of the project team members. (The intern will be working with employees not only in Japan, but also in the United States, Germany, and other countries)听

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by start of internship.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
  • Given the company headquarters location in Japan, and the subsequent language opportunities, it is recommended that applicants have Japanese language ability equivalent to the N4 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or higher.
