“Invent sustainable materials to build the world”

Humanity has made great leaps forward in sustainable energy generation and transportation. We have invented and proliferated electronic devices to every corner of the globe and lifted billions of people out of poverty and into the information age. As these trends grow and mature, we at Redwood are planning ahead to address the problems and opportunities coming when millions of EV’s batteries need an end of life solution and when the electronics piled up in your drawers at home find a new life.

We have an appreciation for the incredible scale of materials involved in the transition of the whole world to sustainable energy and we know it is not too early to plan for “un-manufacturing” the many Gigawatt-hours of batteries being built today.

Rm3 Labs was founded in 2009 by Ian and Kelly Barringer to help ensure the safety, purity, and accuracy of Colorado’s cannabis. Over the past 10 years, we have grown from 3 people to a team of approximately 30 scientists and professionals, who continually push the boundaries of cannabis science. When the company started, the medical marijuana market was just beginning in Colorado and there was not a regulated testing program for marijuana and marijuana-derived products. Consequently, our founders saw a need early on for quality control and testing in the cannabis industry to keep patients and consumers safe.

While Rm3 Labs started with potency testing to help infused product manufacturers dose their products accurately, we now perform the mandated testing for several marijuana cultivators, extractors and infused product manufacturers in the State before the sell their products in dispensaries. We offer various tests, including the measurement of cannabinoids and terpenes and the detection of contaminants, such as microbials, pesticides, residual solvents, and mycotoxins.

Recruiting Interests

Open Position
Colorado Marijuana regulations require analysts to have a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience to independently perform testing for client samples. Therefore, the Laboratory Intern will be able to shadow trained analysts who are performing testing and analyzing data for client samples. However, the Intern can be supervised while doing sample preparation tasks to gain experience with weighing on analytical balances and other preparation procedures on samples prior to analysis. The Intern may also be asked to perform splitting of samples and/or water activity testing under supervision of Analysts. There will be opportunities for the Intern to learn about sample analysis, chromatography, and reporting, but cannot perform these steps themselves.

The Laboratory Intern will primarily help the Potency department with sample preparation or the Microbiology department with sample splitting and water activity testing. They may also be asked to help with general laboratory tasks such as inventory, cleaning, and destruction of samples. The Laboratory Intern may also participate in sample accessioning in our Front of House department to learn how samples are manifested through the state seed-to-sale inventory tracking system, received in our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and then transferred to the various departments for testing.

- Begins on 5/17/21
