JOB OVERVIEW:
The Fraser Experimental Forest is hiring a technician to assist with a variety of watershed, ecology and forestry related monitoring and research.听
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position, based at the Fraser Experimental Forest in Fraser, Colorado. Work will start in Late-May or early-June and continue until August 2018. 听The duty location for this position will be the Fraser Experimental Forest.听 Housing will be provided at the Experimental Forest dormitory.听 This position will be required to work a 4/10 schedule, Monday 鈥� Thursday.听听
PRIMARY TECHNICAL DUTIES:
- Collection of hydrologic and meteorolgic data
- Collection of stream water, soil and vegetation samples
- Forestry related surveys
- Data entry
REQUIREMENTS:
- Enrollment/completion of BSc degree in hydrology, soils, forestry, ecology, biology, or related field.
- Ability to prepare accurate and legible notes and labels
- Familiarity with Excel software for data entry and analysis
- Familiarity with handheld GPS units and mapping software
- Punctuality and dependability
- Excellent physical condition
- Experience and interest in hiking, backcountry orienteering, travel and first aid
- Valid driver鈥檚 license. Experience operating 4-wheel drive vehicles is preferred
Work requires strenuous physical exertion, such as hiking with heavy field gear over steep terrain and through dense vegetation and logging slash. Work is often done in remote, isolated areas and inclement (rainy, cold, and hot) weather conditions.听
