At Fiske, Carla wears many hats, including managing听the membership program,听public programming, marketing strategies, digital communication听strategy, website development, and more. She's听always trying to find new ways to engage members and attract new visitors by听collaborating听with a talented team of colleagues to share Fiske鈥檚 enriching educational programs, musical and听theatrical events, and fulldome shows.
Prior to joining Fiske, Carla was a听STEM Informal Science Educator at听听where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of听, a volunteer membership network of informal science educators at over 600 institutions in the U.S. She brought together a community of volunteers, provided opportunities for professional development, and managed multiple NASA websites. Carla also designed, developed, and delivered planetarium presentations and STEM curriculums for after school programs, science clubs, libraries, camps, and Boy and Girl Scouts troops. In addition to her work at JPL, Carla was a Telescope Demonstrator at听听and a 60-inch and 100-inch Telescope Operator at the historic听.
A passion for public outreach and a love of sharing the skies with kids of all ages keeps her involved in the Front Range amateur astronomical community with the听,听, and听. On a national level, she serves as the Advertising Representative for the听鈥檚听Reflector听magazine and continues her relationship with JPL as a.听In 2019, she was honored to be selected for the (ACEAP). A lifelong learner, Carla has a听, emphasis Astronomy听from Montana State University and a Master of Education in Organizational Development from听. She is an adjunct Astronomy professor at Aims Community College.
She enjoys everything her beloved state has to offer, including spending time with family, hiking with her husband and their rescued German Shepherd, camping, traveling to dark sky sites for astronomical observing, and making the summer pilgrimage to Red Rocks amphitheater to hear her favorite band, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, in concert.
