Research

Sasha is working to utilize x-ray techniques to gain a mechanistic understanding of ion transport in polymer membranes for desalination processes. This work is inspired by water insecurity, which is a crucial, global issue at the intersection of technology, energy, and environmental justice. Coupling molecular information with measured transport properties will help to improve the efficiency of membrane materials for efficient separation applications at the water-energy nexus.

Education

B.S. Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Lafayette College, Easton, PA, 2021 (Minor in Environmental Studies)

Fun Facts

Sasha is a member of the environmental justice subgroup in the Toney group which organizes seminars to spread education and awareness about the intersection of environmental and energy justice with technology. She is co-advised by Anthony Straub in the Environmental Engineering department. In her free time, Sasha enjoys skiing, photography, learning how to mountain bike, live music, and crocheting.
