RNA-binding transcription factors
I am studying transcription factors (TFs) that bind RNA through their DNA-binding domains. In collaboration with the Batey Lab, we have previously shown that nuclear hormone receptors (glucocorticoid receptor听and estrogen receptor alpha) and HMGB TFs bind structured RNA robustly and competitively with DNA. The goal of my project is to study TF RNA-binding beyond these two TF families and understand how this activity may be contributing to transcriptional regulation.
