We have been closely monitoring the emerging global public health concern involving coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). After careful consideration and with the guidance of the CU Boulder emergency management policy group and Associate Vice Chancellor of Integrity, Safety, and Compliance, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year's Alumni Awards Banquet.

On Feb. 24, University of Colorado Law School Provost Professor of Law Suzette Malveaux testified before the Colorado Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the CROWN Act of 2020. The CROWN Act ("Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act of 2020") addresses discrimination on the basis of hair, a particularly pernicious form of race discrimination against African-American women and girls.

The University of Colorado Law School community mourns the death of Steve Farber ('68), who died March 4 at age 76. Farber, along with Colorado Law classmates Norm Brownstein ('68) and Jack Hyatt ('68), founded what is now Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP, a firm encompassing 13 offices and more than 500 attorneys and policy professionals across the country.

University of Colorado Law School Moses Lasky Professor of Law Sarah Krakoff provided testimony before the House Natural Resources Committee Subcommittee on Indigenous Peoples of the United States during an oversight hearing titled "Destroying Sacred Sites and Erasing Tribal Cultures: The Trump Administration’s Construction of the Border Wall."

Marc Walters, deputy general counsel at Microsoft HQ in Seattle, began his career at CU as an undergraduate and played quarterback for the Buffaloes from 1986 until 1989. During law school, classes like Contracts sparked his interest in the business side of law.
