Beginning July 1, 2019, students newly admitted to bachelor鈥檚/master鈥檚 programs at CU Boulder will follow the new Bachelor鈥檚鈥揂ccelerated Master鈥檚 (BAM) degree program structure.
What鈥檚 Changing?
Under the concurrent degree structure, students are awarded a bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree simultaneously after meeting the requirements for both degrees. Students admitted prior to July 2019 will continue to follow the concurrent bachelor鈥檚/master鈥檚 structure. Information about the program prior to July 1, 2019 is further down on this page.
Students admitted beginning July 1, 2019 will follow the new BAM program structure. Students will be awarded a bachelor鈥檚 degree first, once they have met the undergraduate degree requirements and have applied to graduate. They will transition into graduate student status by applying to continue with the master鈥檚 degree. They will then be awarded a master鈥檚 degree after fulfilling graduate degree requirements.
Under the BAM structure, students will begin taking a limited amount of graduate-level coursework as undergraduates (typically during senior year). Students may take up to 12 credit hours which can later be applied to the accelerated master鈥檚 degree, and the number of credits that can double count for both the undergraduate and graduate degrees is the amount previously allowed in the concurrent degree program.

Two letters of recommendation from current faculty will be required from the applicant.
Old Concurrent Program -- BA/MA or BA/MS
This is a program by which students may earn both a bachelors degree and a masters degree in Mathematics at the same time, completed over a 5-year span.听 Through this program students may earn either a joint B.A./M.A. or B.A./M.S.
