颁辞濒辞谤补诲辞鈥檚 (EPA) took effect on Jan. 1, and the Office of Human Resources continues to prepare and educate the campus community about the possible impacts the new law will have on university employees.

In May 2019, Gov. Jared Polis signed the EPA, which prohibits wage discrimination on the basis of sex鈥撯搊r on the basis of sex in combination with another protected status鈥撯揻or substantially similar work regardless of job title.

The new state law provides provisions that apply to all public and private employers and employees in Colorado.

鈥淐U Boulder is committed to equal pay for equal work practices, and the Equal Pay Act supports the campus鈥檚 existing equal pay work,鈥 said Kym Calvo, assistant vice chancellor for compensation and talent acquisition in Human Resources.

Calvo said the law also 鈥渟upports the campus鈥檚 existing compensation work to provide a solid foundation for attracting and retaining a diverse and talented employee population.鈥

To comply with EPA, Human Resources is training its staff and managers on new job posting and pay-setting requirements. The implementation of the new state law will also serve to support the chancellor鈥檚 strategic imperatives of shaping tomorrow鈥檚 leaders, being the top university for innovation, and positively impacting humanity, Calvo said.
