The University of Colorado at Boulder will host National History Day in Colorado May 3 for students in sixth through 12th grades in schools across the state.
Judging for the seven categories of competition will begin at 9 a.m. in Hellems Arts and Sciences Building, the Education Building and the University Memorial Center.
More than 500 students and their teachers and parents will be on campus to compete in the senior, junior, individual and group divisions covering historical paper, project, performance and media categories. The awards ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Muenzinger Psychology Building.
Contestants have conducted extensive research to prepare papers, projects, performances and media presentations based on the 1997 theme, 聯Triumph and Tragedy in History.聰
Students participating in National History Day in Colorado have won district competitions that took place in Alamosa, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Durango, Greeley, Jefferson County, Pueblo and the Vail Valley.
The top two finishers in each category of the May 3 state competition will compete in the national contest at the University of Maryland at College Park from June 15 to June 19.
