Dr. Celeste Montoya, Best Should Teach Award winner 2017Celeste Montoya, Associate Professor of Women and Gender Studies, has been chosen as one of this year’s winners of the for excellence in teaching and outstanding contributions to improving higher education at the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Montoya was given this honor for her dedication to teaching and mentoring in the Department of Women and Gender Studies, as well as her valuable service as director of the Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program, one of the most successful undergraduate learning communities at CU.Ìý

The Best Should Teach initiative was established in 1996 andÌýis managed by the Graduate Teacher Program in coordination with the School of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Graduate School at the University of Colorado Boulder. TheÌýGold Awards are presented at the annual Best Should Teach lecture, which will be held on August 31. This year's lecture will feature a keynote speech by Thomas Cech, Nobel Laureate, Distinguished Professor, and Director of CU's BioFrontiers Institute, titled "How I stopped worrying and learned to love the classroom."
