Local Table Tours started a cheese-tasting tour with Boulder cheesemonger Molly Browne (Anth, Engl’05). Molly introduces people to a cheese plate and wine pairing at a local restaurant, a taste of a chef’s cheese-inspired dish and a private tour of Cured, a cheese shop in Boulder that she manages.

On Aug. 4 Keith Jones (Fin’05) and Abra Fine (Jour’06) tied the knot in Deer Valley, Utah. The couple met five years ago at a CU-Boulder alumni event in New York City and has been together since. Keith is a member of the Leeds School of Business GOLD Board and a vice president at Barclays. Abra is an account manager at Google. The couple lives in New York, N.Y., and continues to stay involved with the local alumni chapter.

Founders of The Unreasonable Institute Tyler Hartung (ąóľ±˛Ô’06),ĚýDan Epstein (Phil’08) and Teju Ravilochan (IntlAf’09) were listed in America’s top 30 entrepreneur’s under 30 by Inc. Magazine. The Unreasonable Institute recruits 25 entrepreneurs for six weeks of mentoring, business development and networking in Boulder. The company helps international start-ups that aim to address an environmental or social need. Dan and Teju were part of CU-Boulder’s Presidents Leadership Class.

Last summer Hélène Tournier (Mktg’07) received the 1er Prix Or, Grand Prix V.I.E Afrique Australe 2012 award. She is part of VIE (International Business Volunteer), a government program that helps young European professionals find work for French companies overseas for six-to-24 month periods. The award promotes the expertise of young international volunteers and rewards their professional expertise and personal efforts.

After more than five years of work, Arvada, Colo., resident Beau Beckley (Mgmt’07) published his first book Make Moves — Success Through Motion (Beckley Books). The book is a recording of Beau’s life journey as well as his observations on life. He has consolidated and documented 27 years of life lessons into seven values. Beau is one of the founding members of the university’s Colorado Creed, a code of values for students to follow.

After graduating Andrew Dunkle (Art’07) taught English for a year in Taiwan and lived there for an additional year during which he co-founded , a website for studying, teaching, volunteering and interning abroad. While building the site he became interested in travel writing and is a top content contributor to the website. Andrew is CTO of the website and lives in Berkeley, Calif.

Along with a few other Forever Buffs Kate Schlag (Mktg’07) works for Clean Energy Fuels, the largest provider of natural gas as a transportation fuel in North America. The company is building America’s Natural Gas Highway, a $450 million dollar investment to move goods across the major trucking corridors in America. Kate lives in Newport Beach, Calif.

ąóľ±±ôłľłľ˛ą°ě±đ°ůĚýRoss Finkel (Film’08) began a documentary project in his senior year at CU-Boulder, spending close to a year and a half in the developmental stage preparing to film the movie in the Dominican Republic. After four years, the film Ballplayer: Pelotero is being released in theaters as well as on Video On Demand and iTunes. The documentary looks inside the world of professional baseball training camps in the Dominican Republic. Ross lives in Boulder.

Former CU student athlete and transgendered filmmaker Lauren Lubin (Soc’08) is making a documentary titled Gender Blender. The film is about nonbinary gender identities, and it follows Lauren as she undergoes surgery to transform her female body to become gender neutral. “This is so much about sharing our pride in ourselves and who we are,” she told the Daily Camera. Lauren resides in Northbrook, Ill., and writes she is happy the Alumni Association’s GLBTA chapter exists.

In August David was happy to write he saw the CU men’s basketball team during their European tour. On May 13 Lara Wahl (Acct’09) and her boyfriend miraculously survived a horrible car crash and explosion when a truck fell from an overpass onto their car as the couple was driving on Interstate 70 on their way to play tennis. The story appeared in The Denver Post. Lara says, in retrospect, they snapped into fight-or-flight mode to survive. Lara works as an auditor and lives in Avon, Colo.

“We’re getting ready for CU vs. CSU over here in Afghanistan this week,” Alex Banks (PolSci’11) wrote in August. Alex is a second lieutenant located in the northern Helmend Province of Afghanistan along with two other Buffs. One of Alex’s classmates, T.J. Perna (EnvSt’10), is serving in the south with a different unit. The four Marines participated in the NROTC program while they were in Boulder.

Denver Human Services announced Jeffrey Holliday (MBA’11) as the agency’s deputy manager of protection and prevention services. Jeffrey has more than 20 years of experience in the realm of child welfare in the public and private sectors. He oversees Denver’s child protective services, foster care services, child abuse hotline, Family Crisis Center, youth services and community programs.
